Server Virtualization has become a must for most companies.  It started as a means to reduce capital expenditures for server hardware.  Quickly people realized that the biggest savings came in the form of simplified management, faster response times (which often equates to shorter time to market), improved disaster recovery and tremendous reduction in facilties related costs. 

Today, companies are taking server virtualization to the next level.  Add-ons to the core virtualization platform have been introduced and promise to bring significant value to organizations.  Virtual Desktop Infrastructure is being deployed in order to gain the same benefits on the desktops as has been seen in the datacenter.  Lab Manager is automating the software development process and ensuring proper (and complete) QA processes are followed.  Site Recovery Manager promises to make disaster recovery simple to implement, manage and, most importantly, test.

As a VMware Authorized Consultant, Flytrap has a very strong relationship with VMware.  We have built our virtualization practice around VMware's industry leading virtualization technology.

EqualLogic's award-winning iSCSI SAN solution is arguably the simplest SAN to manage on the market.  It is not only simple to manage, but simple to scale, with scalability in both capacity and IO throughput.  Flytrap has been delivering EqualLogic IP SAN solutions for over 2 years and has found it to be an extremely simple and valuable storage platform.  EqualLogic's simple to configure and manage Replication has provided many of our customers with an extremely robust yet cost effective disaster recovery solution.

With Flytrap's status as an EqualLogic Premier partner and the recent acquisition of EqualLogic by Dell, Flytrap is now a Dell Certified Partner.  This will provide Flytrap the ability to provide end to end solutions on a Dell Platform.

Scaling or upgrading SAN storage is an often arduous process, typically requiring significant cash outlays, additional man-hours, risk of data loss and scheduled downtime.  Companies have recognized that upgrading storage hardware every 3-5 years is a significant burden, both on the business (downtime and man-hours) and the wallet.  To avoid these pitfalls, storage virtualization is beginning to take hold.  Similar to the merits of server virtualization, storage virtualization with Datacore allows for no-downtime hardware maintenance and upgrades as well as hardware agnostic storage growth.  Datacore software can pool storage from various storage vendors to present virtual volumes to application servers (e.g. SQL) or Virtual host servers (e.g. VMware ESX).  This flexibility significantly reduces the burden on the IT staff as well as the business.

Disaster Recovery options are tremendous with Datacore software.  Volumes can be synchronously or asynchronously replicated, and between unlike storage hardware.  Snapshot volumes can be taken at either side of the replication pair, and can even be replicated themselves.  Flytrap clients are leveraging these capabilities to ensure a solid platform today and a flexible growth path tomorrow.
